In this highly interactive session, leaders will learn an empowering methodology to assist them in solving people problems. First, tried and true principles and processes. Second, a roll-up-the-sleeves exercise to experience firsthand how to apply and witness the resulting effectiveness of these principles. Leaders will leave with a new set of skills to enable them to make an immediate impact back in the organization.

We will cover SAS 115 established standards and provide guidance on communicating matters related to an entity's internal control over financial reporting identified in an audit of financial statements, including how SAS 115 would affect that communication. The following are some of the changes resulting from the issuance of SAS 115:

An agency-wide budget for the fiscal year helps the Board and CEO manage the overall operation of the organization. Individual grant or project budgets guide program directors in achieving the goals of specific activities. These budgets may have fiscal periods that do not align with the organization's fiscal year. In addition, an organization may choose to prepare a budget on some other basis, such as location or department budgets. Managing all of these different budgets can present a significant challenge to an organization's financial management team. In this session, we will explore the various types of budgets a nonprofit organization may prepare, some of the tools that are available to help prepare and manage these budgets, and the importance of budgets as a communication tool for nonprofit staff members, both financial and nonfinancial.
